A Vendor to Count On
I was quite interested in your review of Mathematica 2.2.2 (August '95, page 56), since I've been using Mathematica for some time. I agree with most of what you had to say, with a few exceptions. Mathematica is so powerful and has so many features that learning it is far from easy. To get up to speed, I had to buy and read several books covering Mathematica. You also failed to mention that Wolfram Research has just about the best tech-support in the industry. Questions I sent via e-mail were answered in a few days and in great depth. I once received a memo several pages long explaining how Mathematica can be used to crunch numbers and then export them to another program to generate high-quality graphs. This sort of performance is so exceptional that it is worth mentioning.
